Objects from Solaris is a series of hand-built, ceramic representations of the objects that appear on the space station that appears in Solaris, the 1972 film by Andrei Tarkovsky. Based on the science fiction story by Stanislaw Lem of the same title written in 1961, the film tells the story of a psychologist who travels to the afore-mentioned station which has been tasked with studying the planet Solaris. This planet is believed to have the ability to alter reality with its consciousness, a theory which gains traction as physical manifestations of the memories of the researched on the station. These impossible clones from their past appear physically real, an the station’s habitants grapple with an existential question: is life what you feel or what you know to be true?
